Pre Op Instructions
1. You must have an appointment. No walk ins accepted. Please schedule an appointment from our website's homepage.
2. We recommend that you have your pet vaccinated at least two weeks prior to your scheduled appointment. It takes two weeks for most vaccinations to become effective. Our top priority is the safety of your pet. By vaccinating your dog against distemper/parvo and Bordetella and your cat against feline distemper and upper respiratory diseases at least two weeks prior to his or her surgery , he or she will have the most protection from those diseases. If your pet has not been vaccinated, we can administer these vaccines at time of surgery. Please see Pricing tab.
3. All animals must have food withdrawn the night before surgery at 12:00am. Water is Ok to leave out for your pet.
4. Check-in time is 7:30am for dogs and 8:00am for cats the day of surgery. Your pet will not be admitted before 7:30am. If you arrive late, we may not be able to admit your pet for surgery and will ask that you amke a new appointment. We have a very strict surgical schedule that must be followed so please allow for traffic and other delays in your travel time.
5. Please leave your animal in the car until you have completed all the required paperwork. A technician will advise you when to get your pet. You must complete the necessary admission form when you arrive. This usually takes just a few minutes to complete.
6. All dogs are required to have an e-collar (cone) to wear post op. The "donut"/blowup/soft collars are not acceptable. If you already have an e-collar that you'd like to use, it must be dropped off with your dog surgery morning. If the vets determine it is the appropriate size for your dog, it will be used. If not, you will be billed for an appropriate fitting e-collar from us. Surgery suites can be used in place of an e-collar but must be dropped off with your pet the morning of surgery. If it is not an appropriate fit (determined by our vets), you will be billed for an appropriate fitting e-collar from us.
6. We require that you abide by NC state law and have a current Rabies vaccination for your pet. If you pet is not up to date on his/her vaccination, we will administer it at the time of surgery and you will be charged $15. If your pet does have a current Rabies vaccination, please bring proof in the form of the certificate. Just the Rabies tag is not sufficient.
7. All dogs must be on a leash. All cats must be in a cat carrier or live animal trap (only one cat per carrier/trap). All feral cats must come in traps and NOT carriers. It is recommended to zip tie all trap doors closed for extra security.
8. We accept cash and debit/credit cards. We DO NOT accept checks. We DO NOT accept Care Credit.
9. We do not board pets. Pick up time is generally around 2:00pm for dogs and 4:00pm/5:00pm for cats. This can be later on busy days. Please be sure to confirm your pick up time at check in. Additionally, you will receive an email with a link for card payment when your pet is ready for pick up. Please monitor your email closely on surgery day and head to the clinic when you receive this email. You do not have to use the payment link if paying with cash at pick up.
